Student-run crypto investing with $130k on-chain.

Dorm DAO is a collaborative initiative by the Waterloo Blockchain Club and top university blockchain groups. Students attend a weekly speaker series, research projects, pitch investments, and vote on how a $130k student-controlled fund is allocated across the crypto ecosystem.

Think: a modern version of a university investment club but with cryptoassets, DAOs, and real on-chain decisions.

How it works

Dorm DAO takes the classic campus investment club model and applies it to crypto:

  • • Students join from leading blockchain clubs worldwide.
  • • You attend talks from founders, funds, and industry experts.
  • • Small groups research sectors and projects they’re excited about.
  • • Teams prepare pitches and post formal proposals to the Dorm DAO platform.
  • • Members vote within a set window, and approved proposals are executed on-chain.

What you will learn

  • • How real crypto investors source, evaluate, and size opportunities.
  • • How to write clear, concise investment memos and executive summaries.
  • • How to build and present a pitch deck that others can actually act on.
  • • How DAOs, governance, and on-chain treasuries work in practice.
  • • How to communicate your thinking live in Q&A and defend a thesis.

Applying to the fund

  • • Read the Waterloo Dorm DAO docs and expectations so you know how it runs.
  • • Fill out the application with your background, interests, and availability.
  • • Chat with the team about where you'd fit best (research pod, role, etc.).

What students will do

  • • Join a pod focused on a sector (DeFi, infra, consumer, gaming, etc.).
  • • Research projects, teams, and token economics.
  • • Prepare pitch deliverables: deck, executive summary, and recording.
  • • Post a proposal to waterloo.dormdao.io and vote on proposals during the window.

Student roles

  • • Community / media – share updates, capture pitches, and highlight wins.
